Code Vein 2: Heart Remnant Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Upgrading a Bequeathed Formae in Code Vein 2 — the Battle Axes, Longbow, and other spectral weapons in the dedicated Formae slot — requires Heart Remnants.

These are the rarest standard upgrade materials in the game, available in four tiers and found in limited world locations before the shop unlock path becomes available.

All 11 confirmed Heart Remnant locations are tracked across MapMaster's Code Vein 2 interactive maps.

What Heart Remnants Do in Code Vein 2

Heart Remnants are the exclusive upgrade material for Bequeathed Formae. Bring them to Jadwiga at the forge in MagMell Academy, pay the required Haze, and the Bequeathed Formae gains increased base damage and improved stat scaling.

Each upgrade tier requires the corresponding Heart Remnant tier — Heart Remnant 1 for early upgrades, Heart Remnant 4 for the later tiers.

Upgrading any Bequeathed Formae to its maximum level unlocks the Hand-Me-Down trophy.

Jadwiga's Minions stationed at various world locations can also perform upgrades if you don't want to return to MagMell between runs.

How the Special Customer Token System Works

World pickups cover the early-game Heart Remnant supply. For unlimited ongoing access, purchase Special Customer Tokens from Jadwiga's Minions — each Token permanently unlocks the corresponding Heart Remnant tier for purchase at Jadwiga's shop in MagMell:

• Special Customer Token 01 — sold by Jadwiga's Minion at the train station southeast of Western Gatehouse Ruins on The Continent (1,080 Haze). Unlocks Heart Remnant 1 for shop purchase.

• Special Customer Token 02 — sold by the Minion north of the Sanatorium in the Undead Forest (2,450 Haze). Unlocks Heart Remnant 2. Fextralife notes this Minion is near a greenhouse outside the Sanatorium's front gate.

• Special Customer Token 03 — sold by the Minion at the gate into Bureau's Castle in the southwest Undead Forest. Unlocks Heart Remnant 3.

All three Special Customer Token Minions are accessible in the 2277: The Present timeline. Once purchased, the corresponding Heart Remnant tier becomes available at Jadwiga's shop in unlimited quantity for Haze.

The Primordial Heart: Beyond Heart Remnant 4

The very final Bequeathed Formae upgrade requires a Primordial Heart — not a Heart Remnant.

This is a separate material that cannot be purchased at Jadwiga's shop, even after acquiring all Special Customer Tokens.

Approximately four Primordial Hearts exist per playthrough, found through open-world exploration. The Primordial Heart is not tracked in the Heart Remnant guide but is confirmed as the upgrade ceiling for all Bequeathed Formae.

• The Continent (4 locations): Heart Remnant 1 x2 (middle of building), Heart Remnant 3 x1 (second floor of wrecked house), Heart Remnant 3 x2 (container in warehouse — jump from second level via nearby ladder), Heart Remnant 1 (sold by Jadwiga's Minion at the train station on the southern coast).
• Plagued Village (1): Heart Remnant 2 x2 — by the rocky wall.
• Pioneer Castle (1): Heart Remnant 3 x1 — small table in a building accessible from the outside area.
• Gorge Cave (1): Heart Remnant 4 x1 — by the stone wall in the altar area.
• Sunken Pylon (1): Heart Remnant 2 x1 — next to crates in the lower section, guarded by a large enemy with a club. Clear the enemy before looting.
• Riverport Watch Fort (1): Heart Remnant 2 x1 — by the metal railing.
• East Bay Underground Ruins (1): Heart Remnant 1 x1 — corner of the sewer section.
• Frontier Observation Post (1): Heart Remnant 4 x1 — under metal beams near the stairs.
